Free bike check-ups this spring
Families can get their bikes checked for free at five community centres and the town centre.
The Dr Bike team will:
- Check your bike
- Fix small problems for free
- Help make your bike safe
When and where?
The Dr Bike team is coming to Reading from Monday 28 April to Friday 2 May.
You can bring your bike to:
- Monday April 28, 4:30-6:30pm: Coley Park Community Centre, Wensley Road, Coley Park, RG1 6DW
- Tuesday April 29, 4:30-6:30pm: Southcote Community Hub, Coronation Square, RG30 3QP
- Wednesday April 30, 4:30-6:30pm: Hexham Road Community Centre, Bamburgh Close, RG2 7UD
- Thursday May 1, 11am-2pm: Outside Sainsbury’s, Broad Street, Reading
- Thursday May 1, 5-7pm: Dee Space, Thurso Close, Tilehurst, RG30 4YH
- Friday May 2, 4:30-6:30pm: Whitley Wood Community Centre, Lexington Grove, RG2 8UG
Dr Bike is also outside Sainsbury's in town on the first Thursday of every month from 11am-2pm.
What else should I know?
- You don't need to book - just turn up!
- You can learn about free bike lessons for adults
- This helps Reading have less air pollution
- Cycling is good for your health!

“This is a great time of year to get out and about on two-wheels and the Dr Bike sessions are an excellent opportunity to check that your and your children’s bicycles are in good condition.
“The Avanti Cycling team will be offering to check and tune-up bicycles, carry out free basic repairs and give general advice about cycling in Reading.
“Dr Bike sessions in the town centre are very popular and these pop-up events in the community will be really handy for families to drop into with no appointment necessary.”
